DPS Sharjah crowned National Schools League Champions
DPS Sharjah were crowned Under-15 Champions of the Sport360 National Schools League at the ICC Academy on Saturday afternoon after devastating bowling from Mohammed Sajid and Shasreek Datta saw them bowl out Abu Dhabi Indian School for 47 in just 16 overs.
Delhi Private School, who made an impressive 113-8, aided by captain Sparsh Hegde’s unbeaten 29, with contributing knocks from Menon Devnath and Abhinav Dhawan who hit 14 runs apiece.
DPS, who’d spent every morning practicing before school from 530 to 7 am, then proceeded to decimate the ADIS top order, with Sajid picking up a memorable hat trick and Shasreek posting an excellent figure of four for seven.
All the hard work, perseverance and sacrifice the Sharjah-based team did pay off in the end, as they collected the newly-minted Sport360 National Schools League trophy amidst a throng of proud parents and thankful teachers.
Alongside the myriad numbers of snapshots and selfies came the words of praise lavished by coach Vikram Dutt, who said, “I told my boys that if we play as a team we can definitely win, and if you play individually, you will never win a game”.
The young guns now travel to the 7evens, where they will receive expert coaching advice from ex-England all-rounder Paul Collingwood and current international Ben Stokes.
The team will also be taking on a plethora of international schools at the Emirates Airline ARCH Cup during the months of March and April.
