Home | Know Our Coaches: Part-time coaches, Part I

In addition to the full-time coaches we have at the ICC Academy, in order to bring about the best from the players at the Home of Elite Cricket, we also have a raft of very skilled, passionate part time coaches who work closely with our staff here. We have for you here three of the dedicated part-timers who work with us.

Saurabh Advant

Born just metres from the famed Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai (which was nice enough to concede to us the title of ‘Home of Elite Cricket’), small wonder that Saurabh grew up falling in love with the game that has captured the hearts of more than a billion of his countrymen.

A Social Media Executive at Dubai Sports City on weekdays, Saurabh’s weekends are spent coaching the Under-7s at the ICC Academy on the weekends.

‘Kids are cute’ is something he says quite often, and the ability of imparting them with the foundations they will need to excel in this sport is something he knows only too well: Saurabh’s passion for the game saw him complete his Masters in Sports Management from Australia and he recently acquired his Level 1 coaching certifications at the ICC Academy.

In addition, Saurabh played state-level cricket until the age of 17, giving him a wealth of first-hand experience into the inner workings of the game.

With such an in-depth, profound playing and professional knowledge of the game, Saurabh’s expertise at the ICC Academy is appreciated by all the kids who’re coached by him.

Jason Stewart

Jason’s nice to talk to. He’s an even nicer coach: initially working at the Home of Elite Cricket for an hour a week, Jason’s now one of the coaches that coaches the most number of hours per week here.

Like many others at the ICC Academy, Jason’s expertise comes from playing the game, which has given him an insight that helps him understand the nuts and bolts of cricket very well. Having represented the UAE’s Under-19 and Under-16 sides, Jason received his ICC Level 1 coaching certification in 2013 and is preparing to attempt his Level 2 qualifications soon.

In addition to his experience in the Middle East, Jason was part of a High Performance Programme at the Darren Lehmann Academy where he trained with professionals from all over the world.

His Grade A cricket Down Under and his time in Dubai has seen him training with athletes from several international teams, including Australia, New Zealand, India, Pakistan andSouth Africa, to mention a few.

With a plethora of sporting knowledge under his belt, Jason is sure to provide valuable education to the young guns at the Home of Elite Cricket.

Ethan Holmes

If there’s one thing you never have to ask Ethan to do, it’s smile. This South African native is perpetually with an upside-down frown on his face, and is happiest when he’s indulging in his passion: contributing to elite cricket.

Having played cricket since the age of five, Ethan knows of the unsteady, wobbly steps little ‘uns first take when they start playing cricket and is well aware of the guiding hand that they need at the beginning.

Having played hardball competitive cricket in his homeland before joining the ICC Academy at the age of 15, Ethan’s experiences at the Academy have motivated him to pass on what he’s learned to the next generation of starlets here.

A regular at league cricket matches in the city and currently captain of his school’s cricket team, Jumeirah College, Ethan has previously represented the UAE Under-19 Cricket Team.

Working with the Under-9s and Under-11s here, all of this experience coupled with his innate passion for the game makes Ethan the perfect mentor to transform this generation’s talents into players the next generation will look up to.
