Now Open: Power Base Gym
Welcome, to the ICC Academy Power Base! The cricket centric fitness facility was inaugurated at the Home Of Elite cricket on the 19th April along with the outdoor cage.
The Power Base replaces the ICCA’s existing gym and has enabled the venue to quadruple the space in which cricketers can prime their athletic performance.
So what does the Power Base offer?
Having consulted deeply with some of the ICCA’s leading customers, for example Cricket Australia, England Cricket and the PCB, as well as leaning on the in-house expertise of the ICCA team, Power Base is designed to provide cricket players with what they need to maximise their potential and improve every aspect of their physical performance.
Inside, there are multiple Olympic lifting stations, free weights, functional training spaces and a huge range of plyometric, throwing and dragging stations to enable athletes to develop the strength and conditioning levels they require to become world’s best. In addition, physio and manual therapy spaces adjoining the area enable athlete rehabilitation and pre-habilitation to run seamlessly alongside conditioning.
The inside space opens up onto the spectacular outdoor area. Again, purpose-built for world class cricket players, the outdoor area has dedicated space for more Olympic lifting, areas for agility and plyometric work as well as custom-built spaces for fitness testing, dragging and sprinting. The Integration of the indoor and outdoor spaces links the major parts of the venue to enable athletes and players to transition easily from one training environment to another, most importantly it has been purpose-built to enable coaching teams and sport science support staff to maximise the impact of their time at ICCA, giving them access to everything they need to maximise performance.
The first high-profile users of Power Base will be the Pakistan A and England Lions squads’ who arrive in UAE early-January, during the same time ICCA will be hosting the Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan and England U19’s squads who are here during January to prepare for the 2016 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup, being held in Bangladesh. Of course, on a daily basis the ICCA-based UAE team will be working hard across Power Base, alongside members of the ICCA’s coaching programmes. Power Base will also enable the ICCA to launch Educational services to aspiring or current Strength and Conditioning Coaches as well as support the development of Physiotherapists.
There are a limited number private memberships available to access Power Base, alongside specific conditioning programmes which will soon launch on Sunday and Monday evenings headed by the ICCA’s expert team, to find out more please contact us on 04 4481 355 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
